Next Gran Prix run: Labor Your Legs 5K Monday September 1, 2008
Countdown: (DDD:HH:MM:SS)

Labor Your Legs 5K planning is complete, with one exception---we still need volunteers to act as course monitors. If you are not running the race or you know someone who would be willing to perform this most essential task, please email me with the person's contact information. I would like to have monitors assigned to specific areas prior to the event. I am asking that they meet me no later than 7:00 am on Labor Day. I will give them a map with their assigned location and send them on their way. If they wish to bring a jam box or any other noise makers for entertaining the runners, that would be great. They can drive to the assigned intersection and their job will be complete as soon as runners/walkers pass their spot. Each volunteer will get a coupon for a free combo meal and ice cream from at Bop's Frozen Custard.
Please help your club make this race a success. We need your help in getting monitors.
On Thursday, we will meet at Cloverleaf Center at 6:00 pm to run the course and then we will stuff packets for the race. All Pacers are invited to either run the course or help with the packets. We'll meet at the food court entrance at 6:00 for the run and should be back and ready to begin work on the packets at about 6:30-6:45 pm. Becky Ryder

Trek the Trace is the Best - A Thank You From Boss Ryder
Not only was this final Trek the Trace the best of the series, but this year's series has been the best that we've ever had. I can say this because I have been participating in them each and every year. This year we had between 25 and 60 people at each of the four events.
Most of the credit goes to our Pacer Vice President, Kily Garcia and Audrey's Little Helper (Charles Jackson). It is such a joy to work with these two guys. It is also admirable that neither of them has yet "knocked me up side the head" as I continue to attempt to micro-manage. To Kily's credit he just tells me, "I've got it under control." And, he certainly did have Trek the Trace under control.
I want to publicly express my appreciation to these two guys for all that they have done and continue to do to make the Pacers such a great organization.
Thanks, Kily an
d Charles!  Becky Ryder

Quote of the Week: 08/25/08 "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure . . . than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."
