Breast Cancer Awareness 5k
Jefferson Medical Associates sponsored a 5K Run/Walk and one-mile fun run for Breast Cancer Awareness. About 150 people registered for all three events. After a prayer by Robby Graham and a few instructions from Phillip Wedgeworth, we were off and running. Ray Henderson took the early lead and was never challenged. Ray cruised to an easy victory. Penny Smith was the first female finisher. Phillip Wedgeworth, who is older than anyone can imagine, came in second overall and won the Masters award. Pam Nunes was the female Masters winner. Gary Thornton and Sherra Kimble took Grand Masters honors, and Robby Graham and Bonnie Hinton were the Senior Masters winners. Roger Wiseman and Jennifer Henderson were the male and female race walker winner. Sam Yelverton and Andi Freeman were the male and female one-mile winners. In addition to the trophies and medals that everyone won, Runners High donated gift certificate for all who placed. Several people won door prizes, but my record of not winning door prizes is still in tact. We also had good refreshments after the race.
