PINE BELT PACER MEETING Ė JANUARY 6, 2008

The meeting, held at Vicki Copelandís home, was called to order by Vice-President Audrey Jackson. Members began the meeting by briefly introducing themselves to each other, as there were several new members present.
Officers:On motion by Becky Ryder, seconded by Debra Barrett, the following slate of officers was elected for 2008:
Equipment needed for races, including the clock, are kept in a trailer, and currently maintained by Keith Barrett. Members discussed the need for a system which would keep the tasks associated with the trailer from always falling to one member (charging the clock before races, transporting to events, etc.) Solutions suggested included rotating the trailer every quarter, with a different member signing up to keep the trailer at each of the groupís quarterly business meetings. Audrey Jackson agreed to take the trailer until the next business meeting, at which time the group will look for another member to take the next quarter.
Deborah Barrett distributed copies of a report showing a total club income of 2,555.53 for the past year and 1,471.40 in special projects income (income for races which are designated for particular projects), showing an ending balance of 4,026.93.
Deborah also suggested that the group work out a procedure for accurate accounting of expenses and receipts for races which are sponsored by the club but for which other groups handle the registration fees and expenses.
Additional Race for Grand Prix schedule
On motion by Becky Ryder, seconded by Audrey Jackson, the membership agreed to add a 5K Road Race in August to the Grand Prix schedule. The event, which will be a fund-raiser for the Oak Grove High School Cross Country Team, was suggested by Robin Ryder, who will serve as Race Director. The date and time will be on the club calendar, which Becky is compiling.
Mark Filby announced that membership packets are ready and will be mailed beginning on Monday, January 14th. Members will receive a letter, card and bumper sticker in their packet, along with a calendar.
Banquet scheduled for February
Jim Coll reported that plans are underway for this yearís banquet, scheduled for February 22nd. Members agreed that last yearís event at USMís Power House was a very nice occasion, and plans are to have this yearís banquet at the same location. Jim asked those present to help with items for the silent auction. Any running related items are suitable. Jim also announced that the Run for Love 5K on the USM campus is scheduled for February 23rd. Once again, these events will be included on the calendar.
The next Pine Belt Pacer meeting will be held on Sunday April 6th at Audrey Jacksonís home. She will provide directions closer to the date. The July meeting will be held on the 2nd Sunday of the month to avoid the 4th of July holiday week and the October meeting will be held on the 1st Sunday of October. All meetings will begin at 5:00.
Track on Tap
Members were encouraged to participate in the clubís regular Track on Tap evenings. The first Thursday of non-meeting months is Track on Tap. Members meet at the Gateway to the Long Leaf Trace and share an easy run with two or three stops along the way for a drink and visit (Mug Shots, Nickís etc.). Track on Tap is listed on the calendar and forum.
